Tamperhead Centering
Tamperhead centering ensures precise alignment between the tamperhead and mold bottom throughout each production cycle. A centering pin mounted on the tamperhead engages with a corresponding bushing on the mold bottom before the tampershoes enter the mold cavities, accurately positioning the tamperhead.
By aligning the tamperhead before compaction begins, the tampershoes enter the mold cavities accurately, helping reduce wear on both the mold bottom and tamperhead. During machine vibration, the centering system also prevents unintended movement during vibration, further minimizing wear and supporting consistent production.
Both the centering pin and bushing are designed for easy removal and individual replacement, simplifying maintenance and minimizing downtime.
Tamperhead centering is especially beneficial for thin molds. With thin molds, there is only a small difference between the stone height and mold height, with almost no mold overheight to help guide the shoes into the cavities. In these applications, it helps:
- Improve alignment between the tamperhead and mold bottom
- Protect tampershoe chamfers from premature wear
- Reduce one-sided or two-sided burr formation on finished products
- Minimize tamperhead play for more consistent production
- Extend the service life of critical mold components
